Pronouncing "quiere"

Hello,

In the lesson el profesor pronounces 'quiere' "yiere", is this normal for European Spanish? Normally I expect a fairly strong "q" sound?

I re-listened and it's true that the narrator isn't putting much emphasis on the "q" for "quiere" but I can still hear the "k" sound. Sometimes people make a stronger sound on the "q" and sometimes it's softer, it only depends on what you're used to, accents, region... but I would say this is common both in Spain and Latin America.

This narrator happened to pronounce it like this this time for this dictation.
