Just a query.. why is it " tenemos que conocer nuestras emociones" (no "a"), but "para poder controlar a estas" (with the personal "a") in the same sentence referring to the same object? Is this inconsistency typical of conversational speech?

Technically this should say "controlar estas" as that "a" would only be necessary if the object is a person, which is not the case as we are talking about "emociones".
We'll change the audio accordingly as soon as possible.
It's one of those things that you might say in a relaxed conversation, but if we want to be very accurate (and we like that) we shouldn't.
