Yes, it would work with both, the imperfect and the present subjunctive. If we used these sentences using the perfect tense of querer, we would be referring to a time frame where we still see us inside it, as you suggest.
In terms of choosing the present or the imperfect subjunctive after "he querido que..." I don't think the meaning changes. There is actually no reference to a specific time (that you went shopping with me when?) This is because "he querido" is very vague, not specific.
