The question was Es la _________________vez que onto a caballo. Since caballo is masculine I chose segundo but I that is wrong. Why is is segunda? Thank you

The ordinal number agrees with the noun it refers to, not with caballo.
In this sentence, the word segunda is describing vez, and vez is a feminine noun.
That is why segundo would be incorrect here, even though caballo is masculine.
