No iba ser...

Hola,

In a show a character says "La muerte de mi hija no iba ser una excepción."  Why is it "no iba ser" rather than "no iba a ser"?  What is the grammatical rule here?

Muchas gracias!

Hola Jamie,

It should say and write "no iba a ser". Maybe the "a" is not very noticeable when it is said, because there it blends with the previous "a" from "iba", so we hear: "no ibaser".

Saludos

Inma

Muchas gracias Inma! It was actually in the subtitles where it had “no iba ser” but I guess it was a typo In the subtitles then!
