Su hijo quiere que ustedes lo escuchen.this is 'to him' which is to me should us le not lo. Don't bother answering, no one ever answers me here anyway

Hola ToddThe reason why you need "lo" is because "escuchar" is a transitive verb so it needs a direct object pronoun, in this case "lo". "Le" is an indirect object pronoun, for example here:Le compré un regalo bonito. I bought him/her/you formal a nice present. With regards to your questions in the forum, I checked and I can see all of them have been answered. There are only two of them with no reply; this is because they seem to be simply comments/rethorical questions with no need of any further comment. Saludos cordiales.

Some Spaniards will indeed use "le" even when it is a direct object - when referring to or addressing male people. Purists criticise that as "leísmo", and therefore say it is a grammatical error - but in spite of that it is widely adopted, particularly in peninsular Spain [but perhaps less in Andalusia?]
