Lat Am and El Pretérito Perfecto

Hola,

Update - I just found the lesson on this.  When to use the perfect tense versus the simple past (Perfecto vs Indefinido)

I live in the US and just switched to Latin American Spanish, since it is more likely Spanish speakers I meet will speak this way.  I am curious if El Pretérito Perfecto is used in LatAm Spanish when not talking about experiences.

Hola George

As explained in our lesson: When to use the perfect tense versus the simple past (Perfecto vs Indefinido), the Indefinido is more commonly used in Latin America for pretty much all scenarios; however in the lesson we highlight the situations where the Perfecto is still used (more formal contexts like newspapers or reports or when the speaker wants to highlight the fact that something is still happening at the time of speaking) Apart from those nuances, the tendency in Latin America is to use El Indefinido.

Saludos

Inma
