Isn't La Ropa plural?

La ropa huele a limpio.  Why is this singular?  Isn't the clothes plural which would make it huelen.

Hola George

In Spanish we use use the singular noun "ropa" to refer to "clothes" and as a singular collective noun we conjugate the verb in singular.
