ir + a infinitive

Yo voy a coger el tren en una hora.

Por que no decir: Estoy estando coger el tren en una hora. Or Soy yendo . . . .

Hola Garry

The way we express an action that "is going to happen" is different to the English way. We don't follow the same structure. It is good to think of it as "voy a" being the equivalent to "am going to". Or maybe think that in Spanish to express this future action we sort of say literally  "I go to ..." (Yo voy a...).

For us Spanish people it is also confusing when we learn English to see your "am going to.." because it doesn't click with our "voy a...", so it is an extra thing to remember.

Un saludo

Inma
