How is dictation scored?

I made some errors, had some typos, some dropped plurals, missed accents, etc., but I got most of it right.  But then the score said "0 out of 60.  Missed your morning coffee?"  I think I do not understand how the dictation is scored.  Could you please explain?

Hola P. R.

Just to clarify: dictation exercises on Kwiziq are self-scored, which means the system doesn’t assign a score, you do. So it's not possible to actually receive a “0” result from the system itself.

What can happen, however, is that if there are many small issues (missing accents, typos, or changes in word order), the correction system may underline nearly everything, which can feel like a very low score, even if much of it was close!

The “Missed your morning coffee?” message is just a lighthearted nudge when the system finds a lot of differences. It’s not a judgment, just a bit of fun 😊

That said, we know this can feel harsh sometimes and we’re always working to improve the experience and messaging. Thank you for highlighting it! If you’d like us to look at a specific attempt, feel free to send it via the Helpdesk.

Saludos,
Silvia
