How is dictation scored?

I made some errors, had some typos, some dropped plurals, missed accents, etc., but I got most of it right.  But then the score said "0 out of 60.  Missed your morning coffee?"  I think I do not understand how the dictation is scored.  Could you please explain?

Hola P. R.

Dictation scoring on Kwiziq is based on exact word matches, including accents, punctuation, spelling and word order. Even small errors like missing accents, dropped plurals, or typos can prevent a word from being counted as correct. If there are many such small issues, it can unfortunately lead to a very low, or even 0, score, even if you got "most of it" close.

The "Missed your morning coffee?" message is just a bit of playful encouragement when the score is zero – definitely not a judgment 😊

That said, we know this can feel harsh sometimes. We're constantly working on improving the experience and feedback, so thank you for highlighting this! If you’re ever unsure about a specific dictation score, feel free to share the attempt via the Helpdesk and we can take a closer look.

Saludos

Silvia
