Why is it "pero esta muy fría" instead of "pero está muy fría"? Also, why is it "está protegida" instead of "es protegida"?

Hola R,
"esta" without the accent was a typo. I just corrected it: está fría
We are using "está protegida" because we also use estar to indicate a "state" or a "result". So, because there are some pine trees, it is not very windy there, so as a result, the beach is protected from the wind.
I hope this clarified it.
Saludos
Inma
