Es vs. Está

I read that the Spanish translation for "Where is the party?" is "¿Dónde es el fiesta?"I'm curious. Is the sentence "¿Dónde está la fiesta?" incorrect? If so, why?¡Gracias!

The correct sentence is ¿Dónde es la fiesta?, not ¿Dónde está la fiesta?, and here's why:
We use "es" (from the verb ser) for events like parties, weddings, or concerts. That's because we're asking where the event takes place, not where a physical object is located.
For example:
¿Dónde es la fiesta? → Where is the party taking place?
¿Dónde está la fiesta? → Sounds like you're asking where the party is physically located like an object, which is not how it's typically expressed.
Also, a small note: fiesta is a feminine noun, so it should be la fiesta, not el fiesta.
