I see that you have a full list of -iar verbs that will carry a stress mark in conjugation, and I wonder whether you have a similar list for -uar verbs. thanks

Buenas tardes Michael -According to my grammar book, -uar verbs put a 'tilde' on the u during conjugation - making it ú -[although not the nosotros or vosotros forms, following exactly the same pattern as -iar verbs] >> except those ending in -guar [like averiguar] and in -cuar [like evacuar]... (i.e., these latter verbs do not accent the 'u' - whereas all other -uar verbs do, making it ú).The book also warns us that we will sometimes see certain -cuar verbs conjugated with the ú accented - because it is quite a common mistake ("El País" insists on 'no accent' !)... My book adds that in Latin America they are much more relaxed about accepting this 'error'; in fact some of them even regard it as officially permissible !

My CLAVE dictionary [SM, Madrid] actually says that that the accented ú is optional with adecuar and licuar [consistent with the -uar lesson w⁬hich you quote], but evacuar never uses the accented ú.

So perhaps the best approach is to not write any -cuar verb with the ú accented - and at least you will always be right ... and not to worry if you do happen to see one using an ú.

Hola MichaelWe didn't do a specific list for -uar verbs with accents and one without accents. The ones that do not take the accent are the -guar verbs, but there aren't many "common enough" verbs with these endings. For the -cuar endings the R.A.E seems to accept both forms with and without accent so we would have to include them in both lists (we cannot add extra info to lists, like explanations, so it would be confusing) This is why we tried to explain all this in the lesson and only made one common list of verbs ending in -uar. SaludosInma
