Creer que +subjunctive?

Creer que +subjunctive?

- Ella cree que habrá consecuencias.

- Creía que era una bicicleta por participante.

Because the subject in the two examples above believed/thought that …(creer que) …, I would have used the subjunctive in the second clauses. I equated this to querer que and esperar que both being followed by the subjunctive. What am I missing?

If the sentence was negative i.e no cree que, it would be in the subjunctive.

There is a lesson on this Using the subjunctive with negative opinion phrases

Hola Kent

Yes, it is when it is in the negative "no creo que..." that needs the subjunctive. Here's the link to the lesson Marsha was referring to.

Gracias Marsha and Inma. I just came across an example of using creer in the negative with the subjunctive. Perfect timing!
