Cómpraselo - usted?
This question relates to:Spanish lesson "Using double pronouns with the imperative in Spanish (El Imperativo)"
Asked 2 weeks ago
Hola Pat B.
Good question! 😊
“Cómpraselo” is actually the tú (informal) form, so it means “Buy it for him/her/them.”
If you wanted to say it formally (usted), you’d use “Cómpreselo.”
So:
-
Cómpraselo → informal (“tú”)
-
Cómpreselo → formal (“usted”)
And neither of them means “buy it for yourself” — that would be “Cómpratelo” (informal) or “Cómpreselo” (formal, but with se referring to usted, meaning “yourself”).
Hasta pronto
Silvia
