Le he dado esto ayer?
I was using an app for conjugations and that's what I saw. It sounds weird to me because I'd say "le di esto ayer"
what do you guys think? thanks

Hola Luke T.
Good instinct, you’re right to question it.
In most situations, “le di esto ayer” is the natural and correct choice.
Le di esto ayer → simple past (pretérito).
You’re talking about a finished action that happened at a specific time in the past (ayer).
Le he dado esto ayer → sounds odd to native speakers because the present perfect (he dado) is not normally used with finished time expressions like ayer, la semana pasada, en 2020, etc.
In standard Spanish:
Present perfect → recent or relevant past without a finished time reference:
Preterite → completed action with a finished time reference:
Best,
Silvia
