What does (al) mean?

Is it correct to say " me gusta ir el cine"?

"al" is the combination of "a" and "el", which is "to the", because it's difficult to say "a el", the Spanish use "al".

"al" is just a compound of "a el," the masculine form of "to the." It would not be correct to say "me gusta ir el cine" because then you're saying "I like to go the theater." Hope this helped!

If "cine" were feminine, we would not use "al" and would instead use "a la". But because it is masculine and the pronunciation is difficult, the words are blended.
