Exclamation meaning

I don't understand the significance of !Qué bárbaro! in the second paragraph. It seems out of place in relation to the description of the dessert, but I'm sure I don't fully understand its meaning. According to my dictionary, it translates to "how barbaric" --- but why would it be characterized in that manner?

I thought there was supposed to be an article for the things we like except for people or places. Example says "Le gusta comer pescado." Inspead of Le gusta comer el pescado.

Hi,

I don't understand how the above sentence can translate as 'They say that love conquers all'. There doesn't seem to be a word that would translate as to conquer.

Or am I missing something?

“La llamaría, pero no contesta.” “La llamaría, pero no contesta.” Hola, I’m confused. I would/should/could call her but she doesn’t answer. If he called and she didn’t answer it seems “La llamé, pero no contesta” makes more sense. Muchas gracias, Shirley.
