In 2008, a serious global economic crisis broke out. Spain was one of the most affected European countries, where the unemployment rate shot up. Many young people were left with no (other) choice than to pack their bags and emigrate to other countries in search of a better future. On television they announced new economic measures as if these were going to alleviate the serious situation. In addition, many people were evicted from their homes and [they] ended up in the street. Another problem that aggravated this crisis was the real estate bubble that burst due to high land prices. Fortunately, things have been improving in recent years because unemployment has gone down and both political and social improvements have been made.
