It was an unforgettable experience and one of the highlights of my trip. Last month I spent a week in Barbados with my sister Inés. Before we left, I had read that the beaches were beautiful. As soon as we arrived, the heat hit us. The turquoise water made up for it, though. Our hotel was right on Crane Beach. It would have been cheaper if we'd booked it a month earlier. Every morning we went snorkeling before the sun got too strong. I doubt there's another place where the fish are so colorful. One afternoon a local fisherman showed us how flying fish are prepared. It's said that this dish is the national symbol of the island. We tried it that same night and, frankly, it seemed delicious to us. My sister, who doesn't usually like spicy food, asked for more. The locals were so friendly that I would have stayed longer. On the last day we visited a rum distillery, founded in the 18th century. The guide explained that the rum is aged in oak barrels for years. Although I'm not really a big drinker, I admit that I enjoyed the tasting.
