Every spring, the sky becomes the stage for the eagerly awaited return of migratory birds. After traveling thousands of kilometers, species like the swallow, the stork and the cuckoo return to the territories where they nested the previous year. Others, like the European bee-eater and the blackcap, arrive from Africa after crossing deserts and seas. Their return is the result of a sophisticated navigation system based on on the Earth's magnetic field and the position of the Sun. Although many have faced storms and predators, the need to reproduce drives them to complete the journey. However, their return is threatened by habitat destruction and climate change. If temperatures continue to rise, species like the bee-eater could alter their migratory routes. Therefore, various conservation programs are trying to protect their resting and breeding grounds.
