Over time, I've observed that geography has a greater influence than we tend to admit. It's not just about the landscape, but also about the resources that landscape provides. Climate, for example, determines which products can be grown and when. That's why, in colder regions, higher-calorie dishes and preservation techniques have developed. In coastal areas, on the other hand, cuisine revolves around the sea. Altitude and soil type also play a role, though less obviously. Furthermore, geography shapes trade routes and, therefore, cultural exchanges. Thanks to these connections, foreign ingredients become part of the local cuisine. Although globalization has standardized certain habits, it hasn't eliminated regional differences. Understanding a dish involves understanding the conditions that made it possible. Ultimately, geography remains key to interpreting culture.

I'll be right with you...
