In many Caribbean countries, September is a month of national pride as they celebrate their independence. The streets are filled with flags, bright colors and traditional music, but, in the Caribbean, rhythm becomes a way of expressing cultural identity. Therefore, dancing is the most common feature of these celebrations. There are groups that prepare traditional dances to perform for the public. In addition, the costumes worn are very colorful and lively. These dances not only entertain, but also teach new generations about the history and cultural roots of their countries. In September, music, color and joy fill every corner of the Caribbean, reminding us that independence is not only commemorated, but also celebrated through dancing.
