Isabel arrived in Merida with great enthusiasm. Her main destination was the famous Roman amphitheater, an architectural jewel more than two thousand years old. When she entered the premises, Isabel was amazed by the magnitude of the structure. The stands, although worn by time, still showed the greatness of yesteryear. As she toured the amphitheater, she stopped in front of the central arena. Here, centuries ago, gladiators fought before thousands of excited spectators. She also visited the underground tunnels where the gladiators waited before going out to fight. This place was spectacular!
