The Mediterranean diet incorporates the traditional healthy lifestyle of people from countries bordering the Mediterranean Sea, like Italy, Greece and Spain. It's a diet rich in vegetables, fruits, legumes, dried fruit and nuts, cereals, grains, fish, and unsaturated fats such as olive oil. It usually includes a low intake of meat and dairy products. Some studies suggest that people who follow this diet are healthy and have lower rates of heart disease. According to (the) doctors, it is important that we have a balanced diet and it is essential that we exercise regularly. In the same vein, experts believe that this way of eating should be implemented in northern European countries because more junk food is consumed (there) than in the southern countries. Some reasons why people eat badly are stress and the rhythm of life that force people to stop paying attention their nutrition.
