Today I thought I would share some theatre! I'm sure you know that many cultural venues are sharing livestreams and other content since they are no longer open to the public.
Teatroteca
The Spanish Teatroteca is a media library created by the Centro de Documentación Teatral, part of the Spanish Ministry of Culture and Sport. Usually their catalogue is only available to professionals and theatre students. However, since the beginning of February 2020 anyone who creates an account can stream their 1500 plays in Spanish. Choose from modern classics, Golden Age theatre, zarzuelas, children's theatre and so much more. Check it out here: Teatroteca
La Casa de Bernarda Alba
Here's one of our reading and listening exercises in the form of a bilingual reader. It's an excerpt from one of the most famous film adaptation's of Federico García Lorca's La Casa de Bernarda Alba. Lorca did not know it at the time, but this was to be the last play he ever wrote. In this video, the funeral and wake of the father is over and Bernarda announces that there will be eight years of mourning.
