Faulty vocab for "to turn" in this context

Girar is not, and certainly not 'torcer',   used for a person to "turn" when giving directions - just 'ir'.  Faulty vocab for this context.

If you look in a spanish dictionary, you will see that girar and torcer are used when giving or talking about directions.

In Mexico they definitely use girar for turning. I have heard it from natives.
