According to the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean, the region of Latin America is in a critical situation with regards to the management of electronic waste, first, because the amount of waste generated has increased by 60% in the last five years. Second, because there is a lack of adequate infrastructure for recycling and the disposal of these materials, although this situation is similar in other countries worldwide. But not all is lost! Some Latin American countries have started to implement policies and programs to address this matter. For example, Colombia has established a national network of collection centers for their collection and recycling. However, it is important for governments, companies and people to work together to develop effective policies and programs for the management of this waste.
